ANKARA — Team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort returns from the Tour of Turkey with reasons to be pleased: Alessandro Fancellu finished 6th in the final general classification, 1’20” behind the winner (Sebastian Berwick, AUS/Caja Rural‑Seguros RGA — 26:34:19), contributing decisively to the team’s collective result.
During the race week the team collected several notable placings: on April 26 Davide Persico finished 3rd; on April 28 Alessandro Fancellu took a solid 4th at Kıran; on April 29 Persico returned to the podium with 3rd at Fethiye; on April 30 Marcin Budziński was 2nd at Kemer; and on May 1 Christian Bagatin claimed the stage win on the tough Feslikan climb.
For Fancellu it is an excellent result in the general classification, although the Como rider had hoped for a little more; nonetheless the team emerges strengthened in values and motivated for the next challenges.
“We finished the race in the best possible way,” said Antonio Bevilacqua. “We collected results and points for the international ranking. I thank the riders for their huge commitment, finishing only 21″ from the overall podium. Now new challenges await us, starting with the Tour of Hellas in Greece, where (surprisingly) snow is currently reported. Then comes our main objective: the Tour of Hungary.”
